Make Turkey Jerky 

Bake turkey. Cut into 1/4" thick slabs. Marinate about 24 hours in 2/3 parts store-bought Teriyaki sauce and 1/3 part non-flavored olive oil. Place in dehydrator until dry. Discuss how dried meat was used throughout the winter in colder climates when game was scarce or difficult to hunt.

Have an Herbal Tea Party 

Each student, or small group, can present information about a particular tea (Soothing? Makes one peppy? Good for colds?) and serve to others, perhaps a different tea each day. Get addresses from boxes of various herbal teas and request information on the medicinal qualities of each (some companies may provide samples).

Make Figurines of Modeling Clay (See illustrations) 

Discuss how they may have been used (dolls, ceremonial, educational?)

Play the Ballcourt Game in Gym 

It's much like soccer (no hands!) Pretend to be wagering something important you might have owned in prehistoric times in southern Arizona

Write Diary of Little Basket While Staying with Painted Boy's Mother 

How did she pass the time? (grinding corn, gathering plants, making sandals, shell bracelets, clothes, learning the language, being homesick, making friends, jogging, etc.). Have each day identified with the correct moon phase drawn at the beginning of each entry.
